Playground

One source, three documents. Edit the text below and switch between the modes: nothing is duplicated, nothing is stored anywhere else, and the review decisions stay in the file.

This is the body of the document. Select some words and press one of the buttons above to wrap them.

Mode

Every pending change is marked up and attributed. Decisions that are already accepted or rejected read as settled prose.

The preview above is drawn by the website, not by LaTeX, so it approximates the compiled result. To see the real thing, send this source to Overleaf and compile it there. This version of the package travels with the snippet, so what you get back is the release documented here rather than whichever version the compiler happens to have installed.

The preview is drawn by this page rather than by LaTeX, so it shows the structure of each mode rather than the exact typesetting. Colours, underlining and strike-through match what the package produces; page breaks, fonts and spacing do not. The Open in Overleaf button sends the same source to a real compiler when you want the actual PDF.

Change a status=accepted to status=rejected and switch to Final. The rejected change keeps its original wording while the accepted one takes the new text, which is the whole point of recording a decision in the source instead of a comment thread.

Switch to Review with an accepted change on screen. It renders as ordinary prose, not as markup: once a decision is made, the reviewer stops seeing it as an open question. Only pending changes stay marked up.

Delete the author= key from a command. The change still works; it just loses its colour and its label. Authors are optional, and a document with one reviewer rarely needs them.

Command Meaning
\txadd{new} Text to insert
\txremove{old} Text to delete
\txreplace{old}{new} Swap one wording for another. Old first.
\txhighlight{text} Draw attention without proposing an edit
\txcomment{note} A note to the other reviewer

Each takes an optional [author=…, id=…, comment=…, status=…]. The cheatsheet lists every key, and the API reference documents them in full.

The preview stops at showing you the modes. In a real document you compile with review while decisions are open, hand the file to a co-author who edits the same source, and switch to final when you are done. When you want the markup gone for good rather than merely hidden, texchanges-merge rewrites the source with the decisions applied.

If you are reviewing on Overleaf, the Overleaf guide covers the bundle and both example projects. If you are working locally, Installation is one tlmgr command.
